Great Apps To Check Out

TECH-TUESDAY : Your secret geek-out time

Tech-Tuesday is all about apps that have passed over our desks this last week… some are new, some not so new, some are sweet on concept, some are sweet on design, but they’re all apps true iDevice freaks can get a little excited about.

Tech-Tuesday is all about the kind of apps you pull out in a bar to show other people… not matter if they’re interested or not.

SoundSnap (iPhone)

Developers quotable quote

Let your voice do the photo taking

Developer :

Black Arc Studios

Price : $0.99

Lite : -

The words

Simple concepts often work the best, and this is as simple as it gets. SoundSnap lets you set up your iPhone to take a picture, get in the picture yourself, then by clapping or talking, have the camera snap the shot.

You can do this through the phones in-built mic or through a bluetooth earpiece. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the sound detection in case you’re inside of a screaming party. Alternatively you can use the timer function. Nice & easy!

DocScanner (iPhone)

Developers quotable quote

Take a picture of a document with iPhone’s camera, email it as PDF

Developer :

Norfello Oy

Price : $3.99

Lite version : -

The words

Once again, simple does it… DocScanner can turn any document into a PDF by simply snapping a photo. Take a picture of a document with iPhone’s camera, email it as PDF. You can also use it to crop, sharpen and correct the white balance.

This app works over Wifi, with Evernote and DropBox and integrates with Mobile.me iDisk, WebDAV and Google Docs. That’s a lot of bang for a few bucks.

i3D (+Universal)

Developers quotable quote

i3D is an overview of Head-Coupled Perspective (HCP) on iOS devices

Price : FREE

Lite : -

The words

OK, so this came out over 10-days ago, but just in case you somehow missed it, i3D provides a little bit of fun, and a little bit of a look into what is/will be possible on mobile device.

To explain it clearly, I’m using the developers direct quote:

“i3D uses the front camera of the device to track the face of the user in real time. This information tells the app how the user is looking at the display. The app updates the perspective of the 3D scene accordingly, giving the user the illusion that he looks at a small window.”

Worth checking out, and a great app to pull out on people.
