Great Apps To Check Out

Hump Day : its all downhill to Friday from here on in

HumpDay, the mid-week blues, should be seen as a day of celebration. Friday and the weekend are so close, you should be able to smell them.

Sadly, Wednesday is not known as a high sales day for apps… but we’re here at AppVader hope to change that with “HumpDay”.

That’s right, we alone intend to disrupt the entire app buying process by bringing you 3 diverse apps that you can hump to set you heart upon getting AND THUS help dispel those mid-week blues.

HydroToss (iPhone & iPod)

Appvader quotable quote

Taking retro gaming to the extreme, when it involved just water and pastic

Developer :

Aircut*Dev

Price : $1.99

Lite version : -

The words

If you remember playing with those games that had plastic balls enclosed in a water filled plastic container with a plastic button to create movement in said water so the plastic balls would land in a plastic trap… then you’re old… sadly, at least as old as me.

Aircut*Dev have taken a little trip down memory lane, bringing back with them all that old-time excitement (minus the smashed plastic) with a multilevel gaming experience.

Same physics apply from the days of yesteryear but its all digital now. Nicely designed app for the fun-filled 70s feel.

MultiPong (+Universal)

Appvader quotable quote

Takes an old standard and kicks it into high gear with great graphics and gameplay

Developer :

Fingerlab

Price : $2.99

Lite : -

The words

Not only is this a joy to look at, but its a shit load of fun to boot. Its packed to the roof with options: 7 game modes, 11 bonuses, 4 skins (including an 8-bit which of course we love), 5 balls sizes, the much need ‘paddle slice effect’ and much more.

If you’re looking for an app that plays a mean AI as well as offering multiplayer (up to 4 on iPad, 2 on iPhone), that will play across all your devices, that is slick in places you expect your apps to be slick in, then MultiPong is where its at.

Also I’d like to point out, that this app transcends genre-tastes. It has worked for me over a beer with friends, with kids, male or female users. Its a good stock app to have around.

Comics Heroe (iPad)

Appvader quotable quote

Time to get creative and knock-out that comic you’ve always thought you’d do but never did

Developer :

Nick Golovin

Price : $4.99

Lite : -

The words

This app comes from a master of app design, Nick Golovin, the dev behind the incredibly easy to use SketchyPad (for website and iPhone/iPad wireframing). If you find an app made by Nick, you can be guaranteed of one thing: Not only will it be fun to use, but it’ll be easy to use as well.

Comics Hero comes with 300 elements (face shape, eyes, hair, hats, noses… its a long list) you can use to create a comic hero… or villain.

The app comes with a user guide but seriously, you won’t need it. The functions and useability are at a point that its a little spooky. Everything works and moves and scales exactly how you’d expect, there’s no real learning curve here. It’s also stacked with so many options that anything you create comes out looking unique and presentable.

People using this app are going to be filling up a lot of blog space.
