Assemblage by Ernesto Hernandez

Assemblage is a physics based tower creation game

You will be given several blocks in different shapes and you’ll have to figure out how best to arrange them. Apart from balancing the blocks, you’ll also have to keep in mind the height limit and maintain all the blocks within the “building area”.

Assemblage_HD only came out last week. The original Assemblage was not in HD, and is the version I’ve had on my phone for a long time. Having a HD upgrade is good, although the original had 175 levels and the HD has only 100, with an in-app purchase of an additional 75…seem like more than a fair deal… especially as the app has a lot of legs.

Take a variety of shapes, in different sizes, and balance then all on a preset platform. Sounds easier that what it actually is…I mean, where do you stack a circle?

Objects stacked cannot be moved once placed so a little thinking ahead is needed. Once all your objects are stacked, there’s a nervous 5 second countdown in which your structure has to hold.

The app is nicely broken up into 4 levels, with some of the intermediate being challenging, the advanced making me bang my head against the wall and the expert making me cry.

While a little light on a graphic wow-factor and sound SFX, there is a nice soundtrack that keeps you humming along.

If you’re looking for a pick-up-and-play app for those long bus/taxi/train rides to work, something that will take you forever to complete, then this is it.
