The Lorax by Oceanhouse Media

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.

The story recounts how the Lorax tries to save the Truffula Forest and its inhabitants from disaster at the hands of an insatiable factory owner. The Lorax’s pleas are ignored and tragedy follows. A Dr. Seuss classic, it also serves as an ecological warning that still rings true today.

The words

For most people The Cat In The Hat or Green Eggs and Ham always seem to be their favourite Dr Seuss book. For me, it’s always been The Lorax… I even remember the day my brother brought the book.

While this is not a review of the actually story (which is excellent!), some background knowledge might help those who have never read it: The story recounts how the Lorax tries to save the Truffula Forest and its inhabitants from disaster at the hands of an insatiable factory owner. The Lorax’s pleas are ignored and tragedy follows. It’s emotional, insightful and more relevant today than it was almost 40 years ago.

Like all of Dr Seuss collection in the Oceanhouse Media stable, this one does not disappoint. The narration is smooth and fitting, the background audio not too distracting and the visual presentation engaging. Also with all their books, there are the bells and whistles that help bring the story alive: word association, Read to Me, Read it Myself and Auto Play.

It’s another well made and professional effort by the developers that are leading the pack in iPad book development. This is how is it should be done.
