I’m a little worried about not doing this iPad app justice. It’s so full of features it would be easy to miss something out.

Before you leave, MVHD allows you to get ready: plan what you’re going to pack and things you need to do before leaving the house (turn off the power etc). I’m guessing the more detailed of people will enjoy this feature.

The guts of the app, and its best parts, are a little deeper.

After logging in you the name of the place you’re traveling to, a screen is created with Google Maps, an space to make a short journal entry and the Wikipedia article of your destination. Other options include a bookmark feature (of sites you might need/use) and the weekly weather forecast for that area.

As you travel you can add photos, maps, journals and even audio and video recordings. These can then be uploaded to Facebook, Flicker, Twitter and Email. Sadly as yet, there’s no option to upload to a blog. The entire trip can also be played back with automatically scrolling pictures and your journal entry side by side, which is a nice feature.

I liked My Vacation (iPhone version @$2.99), but the HD with its larger screen size has catapulted the concept. This doesn’t mean you need to throw away the iPhone version if you already have it, because they sync perfectly. I would suggest actually that you get both. Having the map and other information located on your iPhone is easier, and if you use it to take photos or notes, they can easily be transferred later.

For those who like to document their travel or keep family and friends in the loop, this app is great. It’s a perfect way to document and share any holiday… now I just need to go on one.
