The Words

Think you know a word is a word or not a word? Wurd pits your knowledge of the English lingua with 3 types of game play – Marathon, Time Trial and Practice.

In time trial you are up against a 3-minute counter, answering true or false to words appearing in front of you. Not all words are actually words of course, and you’re allowed 3 mistakes before your game ends. Its nice to see some words are just misspelled, so not it’s not only testing your lexicon.

Along the way you might also learn something. My revelation came in the form of the word ‘Gangsta’. Officially it a word, appearing in both Oxford and Webster… which made me cringe.

However, what didn’t make me cringe is the design. The game board is styled after an old skool (is that a word now?) Airport Arrival/Departure board. Gomu Gomu have taken a simple game concept and propelled even higher with a minimalist, engaging design. It’s the type of app you would show off to friends because it looks that cool…and it also allows you to laugh at them when they get a wurd uncorrect.

An app that’s well worth the buy.
