The Words

If you don’t know the story by now, here’s a little recap: Guys get together for dinner; guys discuss next project; guys decide to make it in 72-hours; guys stream the process from their office; guys produce a little app that puts others to shame.

I don’t know what I could achieve in 72-hours unless it involves drinking, losing my clothes and getting arrested. You’re in charge of a speeding rocket cruising through space avoiding other ships, rocks, asteroids (as you do) while trying to pick-up fuel and other powers ups in attempt to stay alive. Run out of fuel and you’re space dirt.

Taken aside the 72-hour time-frame this was made in, you have a well-crafted, beautifully designed piece of software. The controls take a while to get use to, as you tend to look like a complete idiot twisting and turning your iPhone/rocket. However, once you get the hang of it you your movements tend to look less spastic. The ship revs up quickly and this can limit your game play a little, even if you manage to hit the power-ups that actually power-down your speed down.

This app would be a welcome addition to any device.

Check out the video of the guys as they make the app.
